Speech Therapists
Speech Therapists help children in the following ways:
Communication developmental domain-Your child’s ability to exchange information, understand and express ideas
Areas addressed may include:
· introducing baby sign language, gestures
· encouraging babbling, vocalizing and words
· monitoring receptive skills-listening and understanding
· fostering articulation-ability to speak clearly
· overseeing emergent literacy
· feeding/swallowing impairments, gagging or choking
· oral motor deficits such as excessive drooling, difficulties with lip closure
Speech Therapists will work with other members of your team to ensure that language rich activities are incorporated into sessions.
