Special Instructors
Special Instructors help children in the following ways:
Cognitive developmental domain-Your child’s ability to think, react and learn about the world around them including cause and effect, matching, beginning math and reasoning
Areas addressed may include:
· building early academic skills such as counting, sorting by size, shape and color
· developing play skills
· learning to appropriately use toys and materials
· enhancing pretend play and encouraging use of imagination
· following directions
· improving attention span
· understanding rules & consequences
· retaining and recalling information, memory skills
· problem solving
Social/emotional developmental domain-Your child’s ability to interact with others, self-regulate and organize his or her emotions
Areas addressed may include:
· building skills for sharing, taking turns
· developing variety of emotions
· gaining self awareness
· learning to cope with disappointment or failure
· self soothing techniques
· managing transitions throughout the day
· establishing relationships with peers and adults
Special Instructors will also incorporate strategies from other team members into their sessions. These providers will make sure the family has adequate information pertaining to child development and serve as a general resource for parents and caregivers.
